A small, free, fast calculator for self-employment tax.
What it is
A single-page calculator for the Social Security and Medicare tax on self-employment income, built for freelancers, contractors and anyone who receives 1099 forms. It follows the regular method on Schedule SE and shows each line so you can check it against the form.
Where the figures come from
Rates and thresholds come from the IRS pages listed in the Sources section on the home page, and the Social Security wage base comes from the SSA. Every figure is kept in one data file with its source, and is re-checked each October when the SSA announces the next year's base. The last check was on October 24, 2026.
